We all love the Acronyms of today. And of course in the digital development world, shorter seems to be always better.
The term CMS is usually associated with a website development structure called a Content Management System AKA a CMS.

A program that enables you to easily publish a website or web based content for others to see. Also gives you the ability to organize it in one place in a templated fashion so that you don’t have to make manual web pages from scratch for every last bit of content you want on your site.
The CMS has given web developers the ability to create immense websites in smaller amounts of time over the years. Almost any website at this point is created and updated using a CMS.
